Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer

The newest member to Clinique's foundation family is Beyond Perfecting, a 2in1 Foundation and Concealer!

Not only is there a Liquid version but a Powder too, for the more oily boys & girls. I love Clinique's foundations especially Even Better, but I also love that Clinique take everyone into consideration and understand that everyone's skin type is different, and I love that they've catered for everyone.

The liquid form comes in an incredible 22 shades, ranging from the fairest of whites to the deepest of darks. It's £25 for 30ML's and comes with a giant doe foot applicator. The powder is your typical compact with a sponge compartment underneath. Again, another great shade range of 10 colours and for 14g it's £27.

First thing i'll say is, the coverage of the liquid is incredible. It's almost like a whipped cream consistency and covers every imperfection, blends beautifully without the weight of a heavy foundation. I read a few reviews online and mostly everyone said that on initial use, it was too dark and I couldn't agree more. It's quite strange actually, because when it first goes on it looks like it 4 shades too dark.. it then, as if by magic it adapts and looks lovely & fresh. So don't be worrying if you look like an oompa loompa for the first 5 minutes.

It has a nice dewy finish, but almost too dewy for me, so I do like to set it with the corresponding powder. Something I personally don't like about it, is the applicator. To me and this might just be a little OCD on my behalf, but I worry that the bacteria on my face will then harbour on the sponge and then be really gross and contaminate the rest of the foundation so it's a definite no no from me, I just scoop some out on the back of my hand and apply from there. I'll also add that this is great for all skin types, both oily and dry and everything in-between will get away with this.

Onto the Powder. I don't really like 'Powder Foundations' my skins just too dry, and no matter what I use, whether it be a primer or a more moisturising base it'll always leave my face feeling tight and uncomfortable. So I haven't actually used this as a foundation yet and doubt I will, but I do really like to set my face. I will use a massive powder brush and swirl it around and lightly dust it over my face. I do like it, but I wouldn't repurchase it because it's quite an expensive 'setting powder' but I do think more oily skinned people will much prefer this and find it a lot more comfortable to wear.

My overall thoughts and feeling, if you were looking for a new, full coverage foundation without the look of a heavy face, this is the one for you. If you're oily and want a matte full coverage foundation, the powder is the one for you. When I run out of the liquid, I will be repurchasing because I really love the look and how it sits and feels on my skin. If you have any foundation requests for me, tweet me or leave a comment under one of my Instagram photos and i'll be happy to look into it for you,
